HRToolkit Privacy Policy

Last updated: 6 April 2026.

Summary

HRToolkit does not collect, sell, or share personal data with the developer or third parties. The extension stores settings in your browser and only communicates with Horse Reality domains to provide its features.

What data is stored

HRToolkit stores the following data using Chrome's built-in storage APIs:

  • Extension settings — your preferences such as theme, display options, tag formats, and background image choices.
  • Horse records — horse names, private tags, and related data you choose to save via the Herd Data feature.

This data is stored in chrome.storage.sync. Depending on your Chrome settings, it may sync across browsers where you are signed into the same Google account. HRToolkit does not send this data to the developer or any third-party service.

What data is accessed

  • Authentication — HRToolkit reads the Horse Reality authentication cookie from the page (via standard page access, not the browser cookies API) solely to make authenticated requests to the Horse Reality API on your behalf (e.g. loading horse profile data). The cookie value is never stored, logged, or transmitted anywhere other than back to horsereality.com.
  • Page content — HRToolkit reads and modifies page content on horsereality.com to provide its features (stat calculations, custom backgrounds, typeahead dropdowns, etc).

What data is NOT collected

  • No analytics or telemetry
  • No personal information
  • No browsing history
  • No data sent to third-party servers
  • No data shared with anyone

Network requests

HRToolkit only makes network requests to horsereality.com domains. These are the same API endpoints the Horse Reality website itself uses. No data is sent to any other server.

Permissions explained

  • storage — save your settings and horse records in Chrome storage so they persist across sessions.
  • omnibox — provide the hr keyword in the address bar for quick navigation.
  • sidePanel — allow the extension popup to open as a sidebar.
  • host_permissions (horsereality.com) — run content scripts and make API requests on Horse Reality pages.

Changes to this policy

If this policy is updated, the changes will be reflected here with an updated date. HRToolkit will never begin collecting or transmitting user data.
